The Rhode Island Golf Association is a non-profit organization dedicated to the service of golf in Rhode Island. Founded in 1902, our primary mission is to promote, protect, and preserve the traditions of the game of golf in Rhode Island. As “caretakers” of the game we work to preserve the rich history of golf in our state and to provide numerous services that benefit all that play the game.

The first U.S. Open was held at the Newport CC won by Horace Rawlins in 1895. Outside the Providence area, most of Rhode Island is woodland with the coastal lowlands in the south and east to the rolling topography in the north and west.
